Total Diplomacy

I have been playing ridiculous amounts of Total War: Medieval 2 lately, basically training for when I can get a computer that will be able to run shogun 2.

But in my latest play through I’ve played as Russia and decided to go the path of chivalry and diplomacy. Of course initially I had to try to take all the nearby rebel settlements as quickly as possible, before other nations reached my borders.

Poland and Hungary were the first nations I encountered, I was met with great resistance, it appears these Catholic Nations were unable to trust their rapidly expanding Orthodox neighbours. But after I managed to send diplomats out to the other Catholic nations and convince them I was willing to trade and make alliances, Poland and Hungary weakened their attacks. Denmark was the first to agree to trade rights and an alliance and after securing an alliance with The Papal States, I managed to convince Poland and Hungary to form an alliance and I even convinced Poland to return control of a region which they took by force.

Anyone here remember Sheep, Dog and Wolf for ps1? That game was one of the best puzzle games I’ve ever played.

Just found my way into Blackreach, which has become the favourite section of Skyrim I have since encountered. For one it is so fucking massive, it can take a whole hour or more to search the entire cavern. And it also has fucking gigantic bio-luminescent mushrooms coming from the ground and ceiling. When I first found this place and ended up out up of the opposite side of the map, I immediately thought of the adventure of Professor Lidenbrock and Axel from Journey to the Centre of the Earth where they explored a cavern, the entrance of which was in an extinct volcano, and they ended up in Italy, ejected from a live volcano by the end of the story.

A post about PS3 and junk.

Exams are over and I received my copy of Skyrim, complete with Dragon statue :D

Also I received my 500gb notebook hdd, which will be replacing my 80gb hdd that was in my ps3.

I used this article to learn how to update the hard drive and the only issues I encountered was getting the right format for the ps3 to recognise the external hard drive I wanted to back up to, and unscrewing the screws that held the hard drive in place.

Playing so much Splatterhouse

I had my doubts about this game, and even though the “storyline” isn’t anything to write home about, it’s on par with most video game storylines. The blood and brutality of it really pleases me though. In the side scrolling sections (which I thought I’d hate) you run along with a pipe or a 2x4 and as you start whacking enemies as they come at you, you watch their bodies splatter against the wall, against each other and most excitingly against the camera. I also love the blood stains on the camera. Kinda lame but it’s a nice touch.

Also very much enjoy the destruction of the character as your health weakens or as you take heavy damage, torn skin, exposed muscles, organs and bones and dismembering of ones own limbs which one can than pick up and proceed to smack the heads of annoying enemies.

Quite fun really.

And the voice of the mask is played by the same person who did Ed the Hyena from Lion King. -> totally relevant.

These screenshots are from Dishonored, a game being developed by Arkane Studios and Bethesda Softworks. I’m very excited about this not only because they are two great game studios but also, Harvey Smith is lead designer. He worked on the Deus Ex and Thief games.
This is a little about the game:“The player controls Corvo, once a bodyguard for the Empress, who seeks vengeance against Lord Regent who framed Corvo for the assassination of the Empress. The game is presented in open world format as the player can roam The Isles as well as the distant Pandyssian Continent, though the primary setting for the game is the steampunk city of Dunwall. The game is a first-person shooter, but an emphasis is placed on stealth action and the utilization of gadgets as well as the environment to eliminate opposing forces. In the Game Informer cover story, it was mentioned that every enemy in the game can be neutralized non-lethally, if the player so chooses. Lead designers Harvey Smith and Raf Colantonio have described the game world as a “simulation”; if the player encounters thugs harassing an innocent passerby, they can be fought off, but the thugs themselves exist within the game world prior to the event, rather than simply spawning in at a designated time or place. If the player encounters the thugs ahead of time, they can be defeated and the mugging will never take place at all.”

Sounds pree cool :D
